Priority Life Care Residents & Staff Included as FIRST Priority for COVID-19 Vaccine – LEARN MORE
Carolina Gardens at West Columbia is an assisted living and memory care community located off of U.S. Route 378 between I-20 and I-26 in West Columbia, South Carolina. Our location is convenient for residents’ families and friends who live throughout the Columbia metro area. We are less than two miles from the area’s major hospital, Lexington Medical Center, and situated next to a skilled nursing and rehab community.
The Carolina Gardens at West Columbia campus hosts four separate communities for easy living. The assisted living area includes two-level villa apartments with options of large studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. Our two memory care neighborhoods are secure, one-level buildings that provide options of private and semi-private apartments with private bathrooms.
All four buildings surround a beautifully landscaped shared courtyard that allows residents to enjoy the features of gardening, walking, and relaxation. We also offer an outside area for pet therapy.
Life Enrichment Programming
Carolina Garden’s Life Enrichment program boasts many activities and local outings that give our residents a purpose every day. Purpose-driving activities in our community include: “Operation Bedroll,” where residents make mattresses for the homeless. Residents also create holiday cards with children’s groups for an inter-generational experience. Memory care residents participate in making dog treats for local animal shelters.
Have you heard of the Melody Makers Choir? It’s Carolina Garden’s very own musical group, which performs not only in our community, but in surrounding senior living communities as well.
In addition to regularly scheduled activities such as church services and Bible study, special cooking activities, Friday happy hour and live entertainment, we offer history and education presentations. Past presentations include how to utilize new technology, travel exhibits from the South Carolina State Museum, Civil War relics, the Five Wishes educational series, and more.
Programming at Carolina Gardens keeps us vibrant and in touch with our surrounding community. You’ll find our spirited program inspires residents to lead fulfilling and active lives.
Dining Program
Join us for three meals a day, plus snacks! The dining experience is a great way to meet with friends and enjoy our friendly staff. Each meal is home cooked and served in our dining room. Residents are invited to attend “Chefs Corner,” a monthly meeting to discuss the current menu. Our goal is to ensure that we provide not only what’s required but what our residents enjoy the most … a delicious and positive dining experience. Meals change every day, and we are very accommodating to individual tastes, preferences, and food allergies.

Memory Care Neighborhood
Along the Journey is Priority Life Care’s memory care programming. The Along the Journey program was created for our seniors with memory impairments. It’s a way to facilitate strong relationships between families and caregivers. A successful transition involves supporting the resident in their new environment and being a resource for the family.
Goals of Along the Journey:
At Carolina Gardens at West Columbia, we use activities to help reduce residents’ agitation, improve their moods, and encourage social interaction. Popular activities include morning coffee (hydration) and news, listening to music, spiritual programs, ice cream socials, reminiscing, trivia, and puzzles. One-on-one sensory activities may also be used to help residents relax and have a good night’s rest.
